I posted some pictures of Clematis ‘Asao’ last year also. It bloomed quite a bit later last year; it seems like it has bloomed early this year. It is definitely nicer this year with more intense color and fewer bug nibbles. First the buds . . .

This clematis is in my neighbor’s yard. There are actually two varieties here, the pink one has just started opening, you can see it in the background. I wish I knew what cultivars they are, I love clematis!
